Sometimes the sewers of Trinst get a little repetitive. Though I do feel the comfort and security of familiar surroundings, sometimes a change of scenery helps boost the spirit.
Sage, a friend I met deep in the sewers, took Duex and I on a quick trip to the Desert of Mohrum. I know I have spoken of it before, but this latest journey is still unsettling. Amidst dunes that undulate like a sluggish sea and wind that can scrape the skin of a person's flesh, we approached large bugs that basked beneath the sweltering sun. But these were not ordinary beetles.
A quick inspection revealed the Fiendish Crawlers as 30th lvl Barbarians. Far stronger than our mere 19, the white knee-high bugs would have torn us to shreds were it not for our companion, Sage. He dispatched each with swift proficiency and we moved deeper into the harsh desert.
Upon cresting a large dune, we saw a valley filled with what appeared to be moving mountains. But these were not enchanted rock or statue, but giants! As Sage battled the ferocious behemoths, Duex and I stood back, alternating between healing Sage and hammering the giants with spells. Finally, after the dust settled and the booty was distributed, we made a few small stops and said goodbye to Sage.
Since I didn't have a party spell that would take us back to Trinst, I used a personal portal to return to the Trinst Stones, while Duex downed a potion. Our boots still filled with sand, we trudged back to the inn for a few pints, a trencher of food, and a visit to the bank. Needless to say, Duex managed to level a few of his classes, and I got very close to my level threshold.
Thank you Sage.
